The first animation I will be making will be the character fighting. To help with animating this, I have traced over the YouTube video Punch and kick references for Artist – Martial Arts (2014) using the software Krita (2022).

I moved through the video frame by frame taking a screenshot and tracing over the key poses. When drawing the poses, I shaded in the elements that would be in the background to make it easier to understand when it came to animating.

I chose this video specifically to use as reference as I believed I would be able to use many of the principles of animation when creating the animation from it. Frame 15 and 16 display anticipation before the knee rises, the knee rising after this also demonstrates Follow through. I also believe the rise and fall of the knee will demonstrate arc if done properly. The sequence of 35 to 60 also demonstrates overlapping actions. The character will begin to throw another punch with their left arm while their right arm returns to guard position. This will also be shown through movement in the torso. Using this guide to animation the character also demonstrates pose-to-pose as I have traced key positions through out the sequence rather than the entire thing.
