The sixth theme for Rapid Prototype Design is Teamwork.

I started by writing down relevant words to the theme but didn’t get very far with this method. I then looked at some examples of teamwork focused games, writing down elements about each. When coming up with ideas, I focused on the elements used within these games.

After settling on the two characters controlled by one player idea, I started drawing out level concepts. I knew that I wanted each character to have a unique ability so that they could work together. The level is designed in a way that each character must be used to aid the other.

I built this prototype using the foundations of the Fragmented game I made for the Fragments theme in week 1. Most of the scripts used within the prototype are altered versions of the scripts used for Fragmented. The asset pack used was made by Anokolisa (2021).

The second character is a recolour of the first character I made for Fragmented.

The movement scripts allows the player to move with A and S. This is placed on both characters so they move at the same time, although their speed values are different so they move at different speeds.

I removed jumping and shooting from the movement script and made them their own scripts. I connected jumping to character 1 and shooting to character 2.

The health and shooting scripts are the same used in Fragmented. I lowered the enemy health value to 1 so that the player could destroy obstacles in one shot.
