Focusing on some of the principles of animation, I made two animation using Adobe After Effects.

Bouncing ball animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlA-WJU5wxc

Cracking egg animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmdPR8xFnSg

The first animation I made was of a bouncing ball. The principles I focused on were squash and stretch, anticipation, follow through and timing. I wanted to try and make the ball look like it was bracing to leap and then squishing at it hit then ceiling and then the floor as it landed. I also made the ball bounce slightly as it hits the floor again as to follow through with it falling to the ground.

I attempted to increase the speed of the ball as it reached the peak of the jump and as it began to fall again but found it hard to use the editor in After Effects.

The second animation that I created is of a group of eggs cracking and the yolk running out. I focused on the same principles as the bouncing ball animation for this animation.

While making this animation, I had trouble making the speed of the eggs appear realistic, or at least believable, and realized that to increase the speed I had to decrease the amount of time between the keyframed actions. This led me to having problems with timing in the animation as I’m still struggling with the entire creative process. Although the animation may not follow the principles as well as the bouncing ball animation does, I found that making it helped me understand After Effects a little better as well as the entire process of making simple animations.
